DPHS’s mother in law, used to visit Hornchurch station in the 1930s when she was very young. She use to wave at the steam trains, as they thundered to London. In this painting, the 10 year old Audrey can be seen waving in the mist of a steam train as it travels through the station as it was in the 1930s. In the foreground, the in-laws as they were in 2015 when we visited the station once again.
